Maharishi's Message to the World - 18 September 02

Large groups of peace-creating Yogic Flyers will immediately
reduce negative trends and violence worldwide

(September 19, 2002) His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi declared yesterday that the world is going to be peaceful and free from problems as a result of his efforts to establish large groups of peace-creating Yogic Flyers throughout the world. Moreover, Maharishi said, these effects of increased positivity and reduced violence worldwide will be seen within the next six to nine months.

Maharishi's bold announcement came during his weekly global news conference that was held on Wednesday, September 18, in Meru, Holland, and broadcast live via satellite, Internet webcast, and teleconference call to media on all continents.

Maharishi opened the news conference by responding to media reports of possible United Nations-brokered peace agreements in Iraq and Israel, calling them "amusing slogans in the world market—but without substance." Maharishi said such proclamations of peace "will be meaningful only when they are accompanied by a powerful rise of coherence and harmony in world consciousness."

Enlivening Total Natural Law in world consciousness
Maharishi then presented his scientifically proven program to reduce the acute stress that fuels terrorism and war and to increase harmony in the world. The program calls for establishing at Maharishi University of Management in the USA a large group of 8,000 experts in Maharishi's Vedic technologies of consciousness, and establishing an even larger group of 40,000 Vedic experts in India. Maharishi's plan also calls on "local well-wishers of peace" to establish 3,000 Peace Palaces in the world's largest 3,000 cities, each with 100 to 200 coherence-creating experts.

"These groups will enliven the deepest level of Nature's functioning, the Unified Field of Natural Law, which administers the infinite diversity of the universe with perfect order," Maharishi said. "By enlivening Total Natural Law in world consciousness, these groups will eliminate the chance of any negativity from sprouting anywhere in the world."

Bring the light and darkness disappears
Maharishi said that the peace-promoting influence of these groups of Yogic Flyers on society is just like turning on a bright light in a dark room. "When we bring light, then darkness disappears. When we bring coherence in the collective consciousness, then the stresses and strains, which cause negative trends in society, will not sprout. These groups will create a genuine change in the quality of world consciousness."

Maharishi's message to Canada's government
A reporter from Vancouver, Canada, sought Maharishi's advice on how his country can regain its leadership role as a global peacekeeper. The reporter cited a recent poll showing that only 13% of the people believe their military can protect the nation from attack.

Maharishi said the only way the government can safeguard the nation is through prevention, and he denounced the military ideal of "dying for the nation" as inhumane.

"It will be advisable for the government to prevent war—to ban the birth of an enemy—rather than pay money to a man today so that he can fight and die tomorrow," Maharishi said. "Employing a man and making him ready to fight for the nation is very bad. It's like feeding a goat so that some day... .

"The government will be victorious only if there is no enemy inside or outside the country—and this is completely possible by maintaining a group of Yogic Flyers in Canada. This is a fact—we are not talking about a theory. If the Canadian government comes with me, I will create a group of Yogic Flyers in the country, and then Canada will be free from enemies. I am announcing this to the world press: I have a program that will make Canada an invincible nation. Anything else is a gossip."

"Damn democracy"
Maharishi then turned to the administration of society, and said that groups of Yogic Flyers will dramatically improve governmental achievement by preventing and eliminating problems. But Maharishi also dismissed current systems of administration, which, he said, have failed to create an ideal society. Maharishi singled out democracy because "it tears apart the nation, it destroys the culture, and it creates so many divisions within the national population.

"My advice to the people is 'damn democracy.' Come back to the most natural system of administration, which governs the whole universe. The infinitely diversified galactic universe is governed with such great harmony and success. Now human society can be perfectly administered in that same way."

Global Administration through Natural Law
Maharishi presented his plan to raise governments to the level of Natural Law. "Let the governments that are administering their countries with man-made laws continue to do so, even if these laws are full of human mistakes and failing and inadequacies. We have the knowledge of how to raise the national administration to the level of Natural Law. We will establish these small groups of people practicing Transcendental Meditation and Yogic Flying everywhere in the world. These groups will enliven Natural Law in the national consciousness, which will create a problem-free, harmonious nation. And then the national administration through man-made laws will be supported by the evolutionary character of Natural Law."

Maharishi concluded by emphasizing the urgency of his global undertaking, saying that without these coherence-creating groups "the future of every government is dim and dull. This is because governments are full of corruption, bribes and inadequacies. Governments are destined to change anyway, so why not change willingly and willfully and in a right manner, according to Natural Law?"
